Nope, running around getting stuff together and getting packed. Leaving for Colorado Tuesday morning. Season opens Saturday the 20th. Headed for the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.  buddybeer

My knees have been giving me fits all summer. A few weeks ago I was talking to the guy I go out there with and told him I was probably going to skip this year because of them. He's a few years older than my 64 years and gave me this sage advice: He said " Hoss, this is my theory, at our age,if it's at all possible to go, GO, because next year you really might not be able to go." He allowed that he looked at every year as his possible last year to be able to go. After considering this, for about 0.2 seconds I told him I was in. I'm leaving 3days ahead of the rest of the crew and taking 2 days to drive the 950 miles, I'll get there about 10:00 or noon Wednesday and have everything at the cabin setup and ready to go when the rest of the crew gets out there late Thursday and into Friday night before they all get there. I did this last year and have got to say I really enjoyed the drive out there and even the trip home traveling alone. Set my own schedule, stop when I want, spend the night when I want and I run secondary roads the whole way, as soon as I get out of Arkansas I get off the interstate and hit the back roads. Always hated the trips when we always ran 100mph and drove 14-20 hours straight through. Now I enjoy the trips out and back almost as much as any of it. Just takes a different mind set.

Was going to wait until December to get serious on deer hunting.  Got a couple nice buck pics on cam last weekend and saw a nice one while hog hunting Sunday.  So pulled to bow outta the closet and going to hang a stand tomorrow and see what happens.

I will probably shoot the first adult deer that comes by tomorrow.  I have to donate the first one to Hunters Feeding the Hungry.

Good luck in Colorado Sam! We're heading out in a couple days for ML season. Went camping last weekend and on the way home missed hitting a doe that ran out in front of us. Looks like the fall temps are moving in for a few days anyway.

Good luck to the ML hunters.  I will be working and hopefully get some time off during the weekend to bowhunt at least once.
