Next month April be starting a new offroad camping trailer. Squareback Teardrop Style Overland Offroad Camping Trailer. This trailer is already built from the factory in Florida but it's a street version which I'll remove all of the factory suspension, add new offroad suspension, cut the trailer tongue off. I ordered this trailer from a company in Florida, Runaway Campers: Range Runner model. (shown in the 1st 3 photo's) Paid cash & they were nice enough to give me a cash discount. It will be ready for pick up from their factory in the 1st week in April. We order with a few add-on's: roof rack & large 40" x 40" rear cargo door.
The Runaway Range Runner is the only square back I can find that has the widest wheel base, over 6ft wide. I figure it will be 6 months of fabrication, add-on's, electrical, interior & paint work until it is ready for the trails.

I'll be adding all new offroad suspension Rancho leaf springs, shocks, all new leaf spring hangers & a weld-on shock mounting kit to the chassis & 3,500lb Dexter Axle. I also be fabricating all new trailer tongue w\2" thick wall tubing back bone & articulating offroad hitch (Lock & Roll). My parts are coming in, the tires on this project are 3 General Grabber ATX 235x75Rx15", 3 US Wheels 15"x8" 4.5 on 5 lug 8 spoke rims (I shipped to the powder coaters) to be coated black, my offroad hitch & coupler is here, most of the electrical, stabilizer jacks are here waiting on the Jeep Style Fenders to come in.

The interior is going to be a basic sleeping quarters but nicely done, the rear door access is for our camping gear were I'll build a wall to divide the camping gear & sleeping quarters separate.

more parts came in the mail today for my offroad camping trailer, light switch for the rear lights, license plate light, & 2 LED Blue Exterior Courtesy Lights.

Finished baking the KG Gun Kote Satin Black Moly coating on for my tongue box latch, plus installed the new lock & machine screws, installed the small light switch on the tongue box which will power the rear camp lights.
Everything is done on the mock up, now for prep work, primer, paint, clear coat & the black bed liner
Used a 3" hole saw for the solar panel cable port. Disassembled the latch mechanizm from the tongue box & removed the lock & replacing with a 2 way security lock. I media blasted the latch, machine screws for the outlet ports, bottle opener & solar port & coated with KG Gun Kote Satin Black. This coating is a baked on finish & is extremely durable. I'll bake this finish on for 2 hours @ 285 degrees.

finished up the paint work on the tongue box, install the 12v. light switches, & outlets. Shot on the truck bedliner. Almost finished with the jeep style fenders. All is left is to spray on the truck bedliner on the faces.

the last trailer I built 4th & 5th photo. I have over $8,000.00 into it. This new square back drop is costing me 5,300.00 (street version) not counting the modifications 7 fabrication work I'll put into it which will be around  $4,000.00 to $5,000.00. I'll add Rancho offroad suspension system w\shocks, offorad tires, rims, 12v.electrical, solar, 12v.\propane forced air heating, I'll fabricate a new longer & heavier tongue w\articulating hitch system, awnings, swing out spare tire mount.

Offroad squareback trailer runs base line no less than $8,000.00 for base line & up to $30,000.00 depending what you want added to it.

My 1st trailer took 10 months to finish, this I figure will take 4 month to 5 months.

got the rims back from the powder coaters in Indiana, took the tires & rims to have them mounted. Went 2 sizes taller than the tires I used on my last trailer build.
They are the same style & size rims I used on my last build, these tires are 235x75R15 General Grabbers ATXs, just 2 sizes taller than I put on my current camping trailer which were 215x75Rx15" General Grabber AT2.

well we made it back, over 2,000 miles in 2 1\2 days to pick up our new squaredrop camping trailer in Summerfield Florida. We ordered it over a month ago, & they called last week for pick up. This is my new project for a offroad conversion camping trailer. Many new modification coming up.

We cover Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, & Florida. The actual trip was 913 miles one way but we ran into 175 miles of traffic road construction detours especially in the Birmingham I-59/20 in Alabama which sent us all the way down to Montgomery Alabama then back up Perry Alabama to our original course. We tried to use the city of Birmingham as the detour but the congestion in the city limits with resident traffic, truckers & travelers was a total grid lock & mess.

Quite the trip, we lived on Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, coffee, chicken strips w\ranch dressing, Burger King & a night out at Applebees. Drive time average was 12hrs 1st day, 2nd day 14hrs, yesterday 5 1\2 hrs.
Now the fun & the changes begin.

started on the new trailer project this afternoon (the actual trailer). Starting with the axle flip. I'll be using the Dexter Axle Flip Kit for the Dexter 3,500lb axle on the trailer. Then I'll add the shock absorbers kit. This will help to manage the axle spring movement & providing a smoother ride on the dirt roads

yes, I will sell that one. I have a few folks who are interested in it already. But I will not sell it until winter of this year. The price will be between $5,000. - no less than $4,500.
